Launchpad page layout is all messed up in Internet Explorer 7

Bug Description

Launchpad's page layout is greatly messed up in Internet Explorer 7 betas 2 and 3.

This might be because IE7 is no longer paying attention to the "* html" selectors which are used in launchpad.css to work around layout bugs in Internet Explorer, but those layout bugs are still there.

(Internet Explorer also complains about the HTTP icons; this is now reported separately as bug 30370.)

Sry, but i think you submited this bug in the wrong place(?!?)

This site (as far as i know), renders fine on all compliant browsers. IE is not known for it's compliance (though IE6 renders it properly), and beeing IE7 a beta product you really can't expect things to work properly...

This is a fine place to submit the bug report. I don't know how soon it can be addressed though, since IE isn't used that much by our current user base (improving the rendering in IE would be good though).

More to the point, I don't have a Windows machine to debug it with.

Jonathan, two questions.
(1) Is the layout as bad in Internet Explorer 6?
(2) Is the layout as bad on other Launchpad pages?

MPT,

Added a screenshot, sorry its not a .png but you should be able to see the difference.

I understand that IE7 is in beta and I also understand that not many people who will use this will use either Windows or IE or both, but I guess its the joy of being a Windows Administrator for a living and trying to test sites for users who will be using it when it is released.

The other pages in Launchpad look just as terrible.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help

Noticed no change in IE 7 Beta 3 to this, just updating the bug a bit to reflect that nothing has changed. I know this is not a priority because most people who login here don't use IE, but thought it was worth mentioning

0.7% of page hits are from IE7, and that'll increase substantially as it comes out of beta.

Just wanted to add a comment that IE7 will be included in automatic updates during the 4th qtr this year.

I'm going to mark this as Fix Released, either Microsoft did somethng different or a fix in Launchpad took care of it. Frankly it looks slightly better in my opinion in IE7.
I'm using the latest download of IE7, which is the release canidate and Launchpad looks great. I checked on several pages including bugs, support tickets, people and the main page and it looks like it is supposed to.
Marking bug as Fix Released.

Thanks,

Jonathan
