Bug Description

Cairo-Dock (1.6.2.3) Does NOT fully install. Does NOT show as an "Available Application" in Add/Remove Software in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex.

However, it shows FULLY installed in the Synaptic Pkg. Mgr. It just does NOT appear AT ALL in the in the Add/Remove Software even when you have selected "All Available Applications." Also it does NOT show anywhere w/the Main Menu under ANY category. I have thoroughly looked for it in every part on the Menu including the subset menus.

This is was NOT the case w/Hardy Heron 8.04. Cairo-Dock DID show as an Available Application in 8.04 H/H.

I am using the same PC that I had Hardy Heron 8.04 on.

Also the same is happening with Kubuntu 8.10. I have it on the SAME H/D on the same PC. Cairo-Dock shows INSTALLED on the Synaptic Pkg. Mgr. but not available in the Add/Remove Software Application.

I've already notified Berlios Developer (The Developer and Maintainer of Cairo-Dock).

Although I am using Avant Window Navigator, I prefer the Cairo-Dock. Sorry. I just think it is overall a much more appealing dock aesthetically and ability wise.

I can confirm the above. There is no entry in the menus for Cairo anywhere to be able to start it. Also as above it does not appear in Add/Remove when "All available applications" is selected.

I uploaded the jaunty version, after tweaking the version number.

For Intrepid please prepare an SRU request as described at

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

and I or someone else will sponsor that part.

Thanks,

James

Thanks for the upload.

The debdiff for Intrepid included in this bug should apply for the SRU.

Some more informations for the SRU :
- This release install a .desktop file, not available in previous version. I can't see any regression about this as long as the package build fine.
- This release add a Recommends for xdotool to have a better support for extra themes. This package can be removed as it's not a Depends.

does this fix also include the fixes for the default views. it seems this version that is in intrepid does not work correctly for 3d views and such. which did in heron.

I am not a developer just a user/guinea-pig. Went to the WIKI website below. Don't understand what you want me to do. To be honest, I don't have time nor the KNOWLEDGE to undertake this. All I am doing is reporting an apparent bug. When I report bugs I hope that all I am doing is notifying the appropriate people who can fix a bug, if indeed the bug does exist that I report.

You did it well. James said this for me actually. You have nothing to do on your side. You received a notification mail from the Ubuntu bugtracker, just to inform you about the status of this bug.
