Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Ubuntu 8.10
Network Manager
Dell M1530
Dell 5720 Sprint Mobile Broadband

Mobile Broadband card is not detected by network manager

Edit the file /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-modem.fdi
Need to add the usb product id 0x8134 to the line
Before:
<match <email address hidden>:usb.product_id" int_outof="0x8114;0x8117;0x8128;0x8129;0x8133">
After:
<match <email address hidden>:usb.product_id" int_outof="0x8114;0x8117;0x8128;0x8129;0x8133;0x8134">

Reboot and network manager will now see the mobile broadband card and a connection can be made with it.

I have the card referenced above and it does not show up in Network Manager. I have verified that my 10-modem.fdi file has the changes listed above. I have not had any luck getting this card to work.

I can second that the card still fails to show up in Networkmanager. In my case however, it is the same card, but the Telus version.

Same as above. There is no more "airprime" driver, so I can't load that to test it. I still have to "modprobe usbserial vendor=0x413c product=0x8134" in order to load the card, at which point network-manager offers me the mobile broadband option. Verified that 10-modem.fdi includes 0x8134 in the proper location.
