Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-notifier

I just did a standard amd64 alternate installation without network in German. I rightfully got an update notification about missing language-support, but it is totally scrambled:

intltool-merge --rfc822deb-style seems to be doing completely the wrong thing.

This makes a very bad first impression. Nominating for final Intrepid.

This bug was fixed in the package language-selector - 0.3.15

---------------
language-selector (0.3.15) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Rearrange fields in incomplete-language-support-*.note.in so that
intltool-merge stops forgetting to newline-separate translations of the
    Name field (LP: #287046).
  * Use intltool-debian's version of intltool-merge to generate
incomplete-language-support-*.note, since intltool fails to generate
    translated Description fields.

Unfortunately the translations are not used in 0.3.15, even though they are included. Tried http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20081022/. The original problem is gone, but only English is shown for some reason.

I created a continuation bug 287556 to address the issue of not actually using the translations included.
