Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hello,

The package openoffice.org-l10n -1:3.0.0-2ubuntu1 does not contain the help file for Catalan, that should be openoffice.org-help-ca. OpenOffice.org 3.0 for Catalan is actually translated[1].

Jordi,

I think this just needs 'ca' added to HELPISOS in debian/rules.

Are you sure this is for OOo 3.0? I talked to someone else who seemed to think that those files are for OOo 3.1 instead.

No, there is a Help GSI for 3.0 which didn't make the official 3.0 release due to the freeze, but it should be usable with 3.0 if the GSI is included in the Debian patch.

Jordi Mas, could you provide the file as an attachment?

I would like to contribute fixing this bug. I'll talk to Jordi directly in order to find out where to find the GSI file for 3.0 with the translated help, but in the meantime, I have started the process of creating such file, at least to get acquainted with the procedure.

I am wondering, though, rather than providing the GSI file, would uploading the PO help files to Rosetta directly be an option? It would mean more "manual" work for the uploader due to the number of files and merges involved, though.

We don't currently use Rosetta for translations in the OOo packaging. The best way to get the translations to everyone is to either get them to Sun (for 3.1/3.2) or to the linux.cz guys. Barring that attaching the translations here or in a Debian bug report would help as well.

Chris,

please find attached the Catalan GSI file with the complete UI + help translation for OO3.0.1.

As Jordi Mallach said, this file did not make it for the official 3.0 release (although it was included in a Windows 3.0.0 build), and we'd feel grateful if it could be included as a Debian patch.

This is only a temporary solution for the 3.0.1 downstream release in Ubuntu, so that Catalan users can benefit from a completely translated documentation in Jaunty. For OO3.1 this patch will no longer be necessary, since the 3.1 Catalan GSI did make it for the freeze, and it was submitted to Sun in the usual way.

Thanks.

In case this might be used as a reference, in debian they've recently added the Catalan help file for 3.1 (note: not 3.0.1) -> http://lists.debian.org/debian-openoffice/2009/03/msg00132.html
