libgnomedesktop2.20-cil missing dependencies, dllmap

Bug #280365 reported by Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen

Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
gnome-desktop-sharp2 (Ubuntu)
Fix Released
Medium
Unassigned

Bug Description

The recent no-change rebuild broke the dependency on libgnome-desktop-2, and because the dllmap was not patched to point to the new libgnome-desktop-2-7 there was no new dependency added. This broke gnome-do, and almost certainly others.

have you tried removing it and reinstalling it?

sudo apt-get remove --purge gnome-do && sudo apt-get install gnome-do

try that. I am running 0.6.1.0 with no problems.

I have the same issue. I did try removing and reinstalling it with no luck. I also did it again, but also removed (well, backed-up) the gnome-do directories under ~/.config and ~/.local/share to be safe. Still no luck.

Yeah, i tried to purge it .. and reinstall .. but ehm it just doesn't help.
I even manually made sure al the cruft was gone.

The plugins package it installs was not updated. Perhaps the repositories
are a bit out of sync?

Anyways, it is still broken for me .. how to revert to old version?

Turns out I still had the old .deb files .. but reverting back didn't do the
trick for me either.
I'm perplexed ..

It seems there is also a /usr/share/gnome-do/plugins folder which is not under package control and appears messy. It seems it's very hard to even get to the 'blank state' .. purge doesn't remove the gconf keys either it seems..

What to do .. what to do..

Can you please provide Do's output when run from a terminal? Be sure that quiet mode is disabled in your preferences.

Thank you.

I've been using this release for a couple of days before I uploaded it, and I obviously don't see this problem. Can I get the ~/.config/gnome-do/Log from someone who's experiencing this problem?

Bonus points if "Hide window on first launch (quiet mode)" is turned off, and Do is restarted.

I am experiencing this too after the update, I have to type in full application names to get the "Run" option, and then there is no icon. Here is my terminal output, but I couldn't find the log file at the location you describe, Chris.

Aaand here's a debdiff to build a working libgnomedesktop2.20-cil package. It picks up the correct dependencies, and fixes gnome-do.

In my system gnome-desktop-sharp2 isn't even installed...
