Bug Description

Binary package hint: dpkg

On 8.10

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

gives me

Richte python-sip4 ein (4.7.7-1) ...
dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:221: process_queue: Assertion `dependtry <= 4' failed.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly

after that, it crashes, asking for dpkg --configure -a, which outputs

Verarbeite Trigger für libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:221: process_queue: Assertion `dependtry <= 4' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

@mfmangano, if you're experiencing this issue when installing cups then it's bug 290956
I still need the logs the original reporter in order to find what happens with python-sip4.

I was able to fix things by removing and reinstalling cups (dpkg -r
--force-depends cups). Still don't know why this happened in the first
place with my system update. Thanks,

Mark.
