scim broken; scim-config segmentation fault

Bug Description
Hi while testing Chinese input support I noticed it was not working.
Basicly i followed these steps:

I've put them together myself and they worked last time i tried (on hoary).
scim -d loads successfully but i can't bring the input thingy forth.
The config program in System > Preferences didn't work.
When trying it in the console it reported an segmentation fault.
herman@ki:~$ scim-setup
Loading Config Module gconf
Loading Config Module simple
Loading Config Module socket
Loading Setup Module chewing-
Segmentation fault
Can someone reproduce this?
