Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

The Nokia E51 is not detected as a modem. The attached hal-info patch fixes the problem for me.

As the other Nokia entries, no VendorID match is specified. Specifiying a VendorId of 0x421 for all Nokia phones should be considered (as noted in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/259041/comments/6).

I've linked up the relevant HAL bug report about this. Why is the status Incomplete for Ubuntu again?

As discussed many times on hal-list[1], individual Nokias should not be added to modem.fdi. Nokias have CDC ACM serial ports that are already detected automatically by HAL and tagged as V.250 modems. Please, revert those ubuntu specific Nokia patches if you haven't already.

If the devices do not show up on NetworkManager, then it's probably a problem in NM.

Antti, see http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/hal/2008-November/012583.html. These devices should stay in hal-info for now, and they are not Ubuntu specific.

As wrote before hal-info_20081124-0ubuntu1 breaks the detection of nokia e51 phones by nm0.7. This is a REGRESSION from the intrepid release and this bug report is valid again.
