Bug Description
dependency handling doesn't work anyway (setuptools seems unable to a) detect if pygtk is already installed by distro packages b) install it on its own, for some reason), we're not distributing eggs and apart from that, there's not much gain from using setuptools.
But what it does is complicate packaging efforts etc. I say let's just switch to distutils instead.
