Such a fix is really needed in hardy, since the corrected bug (bug #202210) affects lots of users, and has already been reported lots of time (8 currently).
Test case for bug #202210:
- Open the calculator
- Switch to the basic mode (if it not the case)
- Type 1000+1000+
- Press =
If the bug is corrected, you'll see the result, otherwise it will ba a blanck result
