wrong (absurd) keyboard setup on install

Bug Description

Hi,
When I install Ubuntu, and reach the keyboard layout selection, what gets
selected is some absurd layout, whether I choose polish, US, whatever. Actually,
it's none of the known layouts IMO, as s u is in place of m etc
When I get back to keyboard selection from the set up your login /password'
stage of the installer, the problem disappears: I choose the kbd I want and
everything works fine.

Is this Breezy (5.10) or Dapper?

What kind of keyboard do you have?

Can you please get me the file /var/log/syslog ? You can copy it to another
system if you choose "back", then "install additional system components" and use
scp to transfer it to some other machine.

Please attach /var/log/syslog from the installer to this bug. You can
use the "Save debug logs" option from the installer's main menu to
extract it.

The system's been installed quite a while ago, will the file be still
relevant? If no, I' may be doing a fresh install on the weekend.

No, it won't be. You might find the old file in
/var/log/debian-installer, though.
