Bug Description

I'm trying to install the Hoary Hedgehog version of Ubuntu onto my laptop. The
cd boots, but the first signs of a problem are with the image at the point where
it says 'Press F1 for help or ENTER to boot' has two large black lines through
it covering about half of it. I then hit Enter and lines of text run up the
screen, approximatly four lines after it says 'pci ok' it changes to a black
screen, a pieve of text flashes on it to quick for me to see and then the black
screen remians. I gave it 2 1/2 hours to sort itself out. My compute is running
Windows XP Pro, and the significant specs I know are

Pentium M 1.5 GHz
Intel 855PM chipset
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64 mb VRAM
ATA/100 HDD
512mb SDRAM

I have tried the server side installation and the master installation, and both
suffer from the same problem

Please try the new 5.10 release candidate and see if it works better for you:

To the original reporter: Is this still an issue with 6.06 LTS (Dapper) ?

I'm closing this. If this is still an issue with Dapper/Edgy, please feel free to reopen the bug.
