Bug Description

package gparted creates an entry in the applications->system tools menu, but since
it's a system tool that needs root priviledges it should be under
system->administration.

I haven't installed any more admin tools, but this should be the default for any
admin tool that requiers root priviledges.

It's not clear to me that root privileges are the meaningful distinction here;
there are other tools in that menu which require root access.

There is a lot of confusion around these two menus, and we plan to clean it up
during the next release cycle

Ok, I understand it's a matter of taste, but since disk-manager is related
to disks & partitions & it's under system->administration menu I think gparted
fits best in there as well.

Thanxs for your reply

The System Tools menu has been abolished. Nowadays if you install gparted it recreates it just to contain gparted.

After installing gparted I looked for the menu entry in System / Administration, which is where it clearly should be now (even if it was fine where it was before).

In Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) Gparted is in "System"->Administration" menu, so, I think, this bug can be closed :)
