Bug Description

Hi,

Just upgraded from 0.699 to 0.705.

Firstly, we love multisegmented downloading ++

But we have lost the important ability to select multiple file lists for downloaded at one time. This is important for Mods who do ADL searches across all users.

It now just downloads the first of the selected users instead of them all.

Peter.

OS Win XP/Vista

As another users reported this please tell us where and how do you select filelists for downloading. I assume you select multiple users from the userlist of a hub, rightclick them and select Get file list. It works for me as it should just downloaded 50+ filelist at one time.

That's exactly what we do and it does not work using XP for all of our mods in 0.705. I believe Vista also (but I have not tried myself). It works fine in v0.699,

I usually click on the first user in the user list and hold down shift while pressing page down multiple times. This highlights all users, then right click to download file list and the only list queued and downloaded is the first users file.

I'm pretty sure clicking on the first user then scrolling to the end and shift left clicking to select also produces the same result.

Because of this and the loss of windowed chat all of our mods have downgraded back to 0.699.

could you try again and make sure you were not using the enter key? it's what i usually do, and that method is not working in DC++ 0.705 (fixed in the upcoming version). however, selecting multiple users and using right-click > "Get file list" works fine for me.

I have just tried select multiple users using only the mouse to lasso all the user names, then right click, left click to get lists. Still the same result. only the first name in the highlighted list gets downloaded.

could you try in other hubs?

Just tried a random hub from the public list (dchub://useful.danl.ro:411), same result.

But on this Hub I also could not select all the users by using just the mouse. I was not able to lasoo the user names. It only allowed one to be selected at a time.

So I had to click on the first, then use the shift+arrows to select a few names and then right click on the highlighted section (not on the first name) and left click to open the file lists. Again only the first list was fetched.

Peter.

PS sorry about the poor quality of the clip, but at least you can see what I mean.

Sorry, wrong hub address in last post. I couldn't get on to that hub.

The Hub I was able to get on to was dc.river-net.ro:411

I have just tried from a PC running 0.699 and I get the same no lasoo fault as above.

But manually selecting them and then right click, left click get file list works fine and queues all the lists for download as it should.

your problem seems similar to this question: https://answers.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+question/29024
what solved it was to run a fresh install with default settings of DC++ 0.705 in a new folder.

Yes, a fresh install in a new directory fixes the problem! Seems only upgrades go wrong. We have half a dozen Mods who all tried with the same results.

Is there an easy way to move the settings, incomplete downloads, favorite hub passwords etc from 0.699 to the new 0.705 install?

Thanks for the quick response.

Peter.

Ps on a side note, any chance of addressing the loss of windows in the new version? As a user the new UI is ok, but as a mod with many chats happening the new ui is terrible. Please bring back windows or at least give us a choice of UI's.

You can close dc++, and copy over your hashdata.xml , hashdata.dat , favourites.xml , queue.xml and notepad.txt from the old place to the new place. Which should save most of your stuff. (most likely a problem with the DCPlusPlus.xml). Then test to see if the problem has come back, or it's still gone. :)

The window feature, already requested @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+bug/209323
But i very much doubt an option for the old UI will turn up, since that requires Visual Studio, which ain't cheap. And you'll also have to persuade arne that he should use windows instead of linux (heh :P).

interesting that a fresh install solved the problem for you too, it means there's some setting that has different effects in the previous version and in the current one.

can you try to compare settings between each version, particularly those in "Downloads", "Queue", and "Experts only"? try to clear out some fields so that they are reset to their default values? maybe you'll find the cause of the problem by yourself... ;)

Good suggestion Poy.

I have found the setting that causes the issue.

It's the 'Don't download files already in the queue' checkbox that causes the problem in the upgraded version of 0.705.

This is not selected in the fresh install of 0.705, but was checked in my 0.699 before the upgrade.

Deslecting it in the upgraded version allows me to now grab multiple file lists. But reselecting it stops it again.

It is a bug in 0.705, as selecting it in the fresh install produces the same effect as I had in the upgrade.

Just looking at changelog now, it seems this area was messed with for version 0.700.
