Bug Description

Dear all,

the USB WLAN Stick (FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick v2) worked flawlessly up to the Linux Kernel version 4.4.0-185-generic, so I assume some problem has been introduced moving from Linux version 4.4.0-185-generic to the Linux version 4.4.0-186-generic.

Operating system and release can be found below.

Description: Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release: 16.04

Attached are the files for the currently working version (4.4.0-185-generic): dmesg, version signature, lspci and uname output).

I provide too the dmesg output of the failing kernel version (4.4.0-185-generic). I am happy to provide more details. Apparently the module is not loaded anymore.

Kind regards,
Stephan

I experience the identical problem, but with TP-LINK TL-WN722N (Atheros) WiFi USB stick.

Could you try the kernel in https://launchpad.net/~vicamo/+archive/ubuntu/ppa-1888385 ? It's based on 4.4.0-187 with one additional commit from https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?h=linux-4.4.y&id=e27a1e3d9c9ac453a94ab5646f7b92492a685c04, which is to be included in 4.4.0-188. The PPA is scheduled for build and may take a couple hours to finish. Please post a comment here whether that fixes this bug and reset bug status to confirmed.

I think for me this fixes the problem, could you explain why the commit is reverted? I do not see any obvious bug in the new code...
