Bug Description
I have had this problem with Kubuntu 5.04 Hoary, and also running an up-to-date
(as of 2005-Jul-04) Breezy.
1) When I start kwrite, I receive the following error message.
Will not save configuration.
Configuration file "/home/
Please contact your system administrator.
If I start kwrite from a terminal, I receive the same error message.
2) If I run 'sudo kwrite' (to edit a config file or something), the terminal
returns this error:
Error: "/var/tmp/
Link points to "/var/tmp/
2b) If I try to save a file edited with a sudo'ed kwrite, the terminal returns
this error:
Error: "/tmp/ksocket-seth" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-root"
However, the file is saved properly.
Unfortunatly KDE programmes are not designed to run as root, please use kdesu instead (or right
click -> Actions -> Edit as Root in Konqueror).
You may need to fix file permissions issues with a command such as:
sudo chown -R seth.seth /home/seth/.kde/
