Seems like debian also lacks a manpage for gnome-open.

Why is the priority of this bug wishlist? Isn't it policy for every executable in Ubuntu to have a manual page? Or does that just apply to Debian now?

Hm... Raising the priority to "Low".

And yes, it's policy (and I've state more than once that *I* won't advocate any package on REVU that is missing a manpage :)), but it is only a "should" and not a "must". Quoting from /usr/share/doc/debian-policy/policy.html/ch-docs.html#s12.1:

«Each program, utility, and function should have an associated manual page included in the same package. It is suggested that all configuration files also have a manual page included as well. Manual pages for protocols and other auxiliary things are optional.

If no manual page is available, this is considered as a bug and should be reported to the Debian Bug Tracking System (the maintainer of the package is allowed to write this bug report themselves, if they so desire). Do not close the bug report until a proper man page is available.»

thank you for your work there, is there any reason you list the options which are not specific to gnome-open (the libbonobo ones for example)?

This bug was fixed in the package libgnome - 2.24.1-0ubuntu4

---------------
libgnome (2.24.1-0ubuntu4) intrepid; urgency=low

  [ Jonathan Carter ]
  * Added manual page for gnome-open; LP: #185171.

  [ Loic Minier ]
  * s/Gnome/GNOME in gnome-open man page.
  * Drop "Reporting bugs" section in gnome-open man page; people should just
    report bugs to their distro's bug tracker, and that doesn't need to be
    repeated in distro specific man pages.
  * Fix escaping of "-" in "--help" in gnome-open man page.

Thanks Jonathan; I did some minor tweaks to the man page (see above) and pushed to Ubuntu and Debian as well as upstream.
