swt4-gtk has dropped several binaries in disco related to gtk2 deprecation, which means there are reverse-dependencies in bionic that would be made uninstallable by updating this package. This packaging change probably needs to be reverted to maintain compatibility.

Marking this verification-failed in the meantime; can be reset as soon as there's an updated package.

Hello Matthias, or anyone else affected,

Accepted swt4-gtk into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/swt4-gtk/4.9.0-1~18.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

I think this regresses tomcat in some ways as for example outlined by a reporter that tested -proposed in bug 1819721.

I wonder if the switch to the systemd service is strictly needed for the overall target of using JDK11.

I read above that this is only going to the security pocket, but wouldn't an SRU template especially outlining and discussing the regression risks and why they are acceptable make sense?

I'm flagging as regression-proposed to make clear what https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomcat8/+bug/1819721/comments/2 is until fixed or sorted out by discussion.

  * Create the /var/log/tomcat9/ and /var/cache/tomcat9/ directories
