Bug Description

ubi-setup-console crashes when non English language is selected in KDE front end

ubi-console-setup failed with exit code 141. Further information may be found in /var/log/syslog. Do you want to try running this step again before continuing? If you do not, your installation may fail entirely or may be broken.

Tested with German, Polish, French, Russian so far.

In addition, if I downgrade ubiquity in Disco to 18.10.12 from cosmic, all seems to be well.

Looking at that further, if I just extract the generated kbdnames.gz from 18.10.12 package and use it to replace the one found in 19.04.1 and later, the error appears to go away and I can proceed to a successful install.

The solution in this old bug fixes the crash for me:

i.e. a no change rebuild of console-setup
