Bug Description

When I attempted to deploy the r740xd it fails deployment.

BIOS Version: 1.3.7
MAAS Version 2.4.0~beta2 (6865-gec43e47e6-0ubuntu1)

The error log for the machine has the following message:

The system attempted to deploy, then failed, then rebooted and tried the deploy again.

Hi can you provide the curtin install logs in debug mode? I believe this has already been resolved in bug #1764602
You can also try curtin daily PPA to see if that resolves your issue. We'll need to SRU what's in bionic back to Artful, Xenial for the official fix.
