Bug Description

Binary package hint: klavaro

I'm using Klavaro in French and at the end of the fluidness test, it crashes with the following output in the terminal:

$ klavaro

The same issue occurs in English. This was tested with Gutsy's 1.0.3-1 package and Hardy's current 1.0.5 package.

Sorry I figured out that I was using klavaro 1.0.4 and the repository version for gutsy is 1.0.3-1 (but I also noticed that 1.0.5 is available for Hardy, which I did not try). However klavaro also crashes in 1.0.3-1 but with an other error:
*** stack smashing detected ***: klavaro terminated
Abandon (core dumped)

I tried French and English and both crash, I did not try any others. The velocity test also crashes in French (but not in English)

Is it still useful that I do a backtrace even if a newer version is available and the bug will probably not be solved in Gutsy ? If it is, should I modify the description or is it better to make another bug report ?

I manually backported 1.0.5-1 from Hardy, it should be available in my ppa in a few hours: https://launchpad.net/~jerome-guelfucci/+archive

Could you please test it and tell us if it still fails ? Thank you. Please remember that this package is a non-official package, only provided for testing.

Yes, I just tried too. The error is the same as in the current 1.0.3-1. I noticed that there is a .deb on sourceforge for klavaro v.1.0.5, is it different from the one you backported ?

(I also notice that I now have another issue with the GUI: it is now only in English, and the language drop-down list is empty… however the loaded texts, including the different explanations, are in French)

I backported the "official" ubuntu package from Hardy, can you please provide a backtrace using 1.0.5-1 and update the bug description if the error message you get is different. I'll forward this upstream once we have everything we need.

Hi,

I updated the description but where can I find the -dbg package for Klavaro 1.0.5 ? I'm still under Gutsy so is it appropriate to use Hardy's one ? Should I use Hardy's ddeb's repository (deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com hardy main universe) ?

LordFarquaad: I had not thinked on this, sorry. You can try with the Hardy one, but it may not work. If it doesn't, please use the gutsy repo and 1.0.3-1. Sorry for this. Thank you.

Hi,

In fact the -dbg package for klavaro is not available on Hardy for i386, it is only for hppa (as seen at http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/pool/universe/k/klavaro/ ). So I did the backtrace with 1.0.3. Notice that I also downloaded the .deb for 1.0.5 from Klavaro's website and it crashes too (but with a segfault, as in my first report, with 1.0.4). I downgraded to gutsy's 1.0.3-1 before doing the backtrace. I'll also join the deviation-fluid file because I think Klavaro's developers use it for debugging too.
