Bug Description

Impact
------
This is the first bugfix release in the stable 3.24 series

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gdm/log?h=gnome-3-24
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gdm/tree/NEWS?h=gnome-3-24

Test Case
---------
From Ubuntu GNOME 17.04, install the update.
Restart your computer.
Log in to GNOME.
Log out.
Click the gear button to change the session. If GNOME on Wayland is listed, choose that and log in.

Regression Potential
--------------------
If this package doesn't work, Ubuntu GNOME users will be basically unable to user their computer.

Other Info
----------
To make it easier to isolate any potential issues, I am waiting for the gnome-shell, mutter, gjs and mozjs SRUs to make it through zesty-proposed before uploading this SRU and gnome-session. gdm3 uses gnome-shell for the login and lock screens.

Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gdm3 into zesty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/3.24.1-0ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

screen not starting when the default session is set to something else,
such as when a Ubuntu (Unity) user installs gnome-shell and chooses
gdm but does not install ubuntu-gnome-desktop (LP: #1686257)
