While looking photos if you want to see next photo you can't navigate with left/right arrow keys on keyboard.

No. Just open application then chose one photo and start trying to navigate with rigt/left arrows.

As a note, this seems to be the issue not within the actual moving back / forward, but in the focus handling, click on the photo page area and try to navigate: works. After one press of a left / right arrow the page is not navigatable again due to the stolen focus.

Is there any way I could try this (on Loki) without building Photos myself? Using a custom ppa / snap / appimage for example?
