Chris J Arges (arges) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Etienne, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubuntu-mate-meta into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-meta/1.154.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

Tested on three machines (desktop amd64, laptop amd64, laptop i386) following the instructions for a targeted update of ubuntu-mate-core verbatim from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

ouroumov@Bloc:~/Desktop$ apt-cache policy ubuntu-mate-core
ubuntu-mate-core:
  Installed: 1.154.1
  Candidate: 1.154.1
  Version table:
 *** 1.154.1 400
        400 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-proposed/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1.154 500
        500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages

Test case passes on all three machines:

ouroumov@Bloc:~/Desktop$ apt rdepends unattended-upgrades
unattended-upgrades
Reverse Depends:
  Breaks: python-apt (<< 0.42debian2)
  Depends: ubuntu-mate-desktop
  Depends: ubuntu-mate-core
  Depends: ubuntu-mate-cloudtop
  Recommends: python-software-properties
  Recommends: python3-software-properties
  Recommends: python-software-properties
  Depends: freedombox-setup
  Recommends: python3-software-properties

However, and I think that's a potential problem: after the upgrade, default option selected in "when there are security updates:" is "Download and install automatically". I'm pretty sure the default option should be "Display immediately"

I also can't test powerpc build for lack of such a machine.

Not tagging this as "verification-done" for the moment.

Please advise.

Display immediately is also the default on vanilla Ubuntu 16.04.
