Bug Description

== Comment: #0 - Benedikt Klotz <email address hidden> - 2016-06-17 09:37:07 ==
The logging directory is not created by opencryptoki by default. This makes it difficult to debug opencryptoki errors.

A patch is at https://sourceforge.net/p/opencryptoki/opencryptoki/ci/8962d298d98df0331d3870e2a490e1781a33a872/

The patch adds also some more directories (locking and Token object directories) when they are missing and adds sanity checks for access rights.

Could you please include this patch into 16.04.

We found an issue in the above patch in that the lock directory for tpm token is not created when it is missing. This causes the "pkcsconf -t" to fail with an error "CKR_TOKEN_NOT_PRESENT". The issue is fixed with the following commit upstream.

https://sourceforge.net/p/opencryptoki/opencryptoki/ci/aeea198cb8ea640cd37735365ee51a03aca67036/
"create missing tpm lock directory from tpm stdll."

Please include this patch too on top of the first patch for a complete working solution.

opencryptoki (3.5+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * QA upload.
  * Updated systemd-tmpfiles debian/opencryptoki.tmpfiles snippet to
    create TOK_OBJ per-token subdirectories with correct
    permissions. Upstream should probably ship tmpfiles snippet. LP:
    #1595192.
  * Import upstream patches to create/validate lock & lib directories for
    all tokens. LP: #1594386

Verified on z13 LPAR with Ubuntu 16.10 with updated opencryptoki (3.5+dfsg-2) that the bug is resolved.

Logging and locking directory are now created when they are missing.

Chris J Arges (arges) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted opencryptoki into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opencryptoki/3.4.1+dfsg-1ubuntu4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
