*Working within a hierarchical sheet in EESchema* -> edit symbol reference number(s) to any but original -> leave sheet -> re-enter said sheet and the edited values have reverted to their original value.

Happened between 6608 and 6663 (lowest in the nightly list, I don't have anything prior) by some deductive testing (builds > 6663 have this behavior present).

Build 6608, tested by Joan_Sparky, had no issue:

Production build 4.0.2 also behaves normally.

I committed a fix for this in r6708. Please test it when you get a chance an let me know if this resolves your issue.
