Hi David, it seems the root issue is panasoniclpd-init and not thermald per-se, so I'm pretty sure this is not a thermald issue.

From the look of it, panasoniclpd is a third party package that is the root issue and I've seen several users faced with this failure with that package installed. I am convinced it's not a thermald bug.
