Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

the evince option "save copy" does not save the content of the forms (if the document has forms)
Also it should be useful a "save" option, only for documents which have forms!
evince 2.20.0-0ubuntu3

sure, sorry if I was not clear!

I have a pdf with forms that can be filled. (a module in which I have
to put my name, surname, date of birth, place of birh, etc.)
when I fill these forms, I want to save it, because I don't want to
enter these informations again, the following time I open that
document.
there is not a "save" option under the menu file. there is only a
"save as" option, but unfortunately the file is saved without the
informations I filled in before: all forms are empty

The comments over at the upstream bug suggest that poppler > 0.7 supports saving PDF data. Since Intrepid has poppler 0.8.2 (at the time of writing), could someone who's running Intrepid see if PDF forms are now saved with their data included?

I have just tested this in an intrepid virtual machine and I can report that evince is now able to save PDF data entered into forms.

I have just tried it on an intrepid machine, and it didn't work for me.

I opened the attached PDF form, entered some data, then saved a copy. When I open the copy, the document consists of two blank pages.

I can confirm that I cannot save to your pdf file. Would you check to see if
you can save to the fw9.pdf file I have attached. I wonder what differs
between these two pdf forms.

Form-saving support is present in Intrepid, with evince 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 and libpoppler3 0.8.7-1; I don't know how this didn't get mentioned loudly in a changelog entry (the word 'form' doesn't appear anywhere in there), but it's certainly fixed now.

The particular form supplied by perlhead still corrupts on save with a new upstream version (Poppler and Evince both pulled from their current VCS sources); I've opened bug 307459 on that one, as it's a separate issue from Evince not saving the contents of forms at all.
