Bug Description

On my rc-proposed krillin, mediascanner is crashing constantly, this causes apport to run and is eating up my cpu and thus battery. I can't find any log that's got any clues.

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~/.cache/upstart$ tail -f mediascanner-2.0.log

The result of this was the watchdog would see the crashes and reboot the device:-

Sep 21 17:29:43 ubuntu-phablet session-watchdog: 'mediascanner-2.0' (instance '') hit respawn limit - asking logind to reboot

To disable mediascanner as a workaround:-

echo manual >> ~/.config/upstart/mediascanner-2.0.override

Looks like disk was probably full and the db was probably corrupted. I've attached it.

Deleting this file (or moving it out of the way) means I could continue using my phone.

Need to dig into this a little more I'm struggling to reproduce to ensure the fix works. But will hopefully nail it in the morning.

Changed in mediascanner (Ubuntu):
