Bug Description

Switching windows using ALT+Tab seemed to trigger this. I only had telegram, chrome, terminator and terminal open.

A pre-release build of Marco is available that hopefully resolves this issue. Please do the following and report back.

  apt-add-repository pp:ubuntu-mate-dev/wily-mate
  apt-get update
  apt-get upgrade

Use MATE Tweak to switch to Marco and enable Compositing.

A work around, that prevents this crash, has been added to ubuntu-mate-settings 15.10.3. A proper fix has been developed by the upstream MATE team and will be released soon.

Marco 1.10.3 has been released upstream which resolves this issue.

In the meantime this is fixed in Ubuntu I packaged marco 1.10.3, which should hopefully fix this issue, available in this PPA:

The is fixed in Marco 1.12.1 which will land in 16.04 soon. If you want to upgrade to MATE 1.12.1 you can using our PPA.

    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/wily-mate
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
