It will be great if you can fix this issue before 5.04 final release!
Btw, you have to include ttf-bangla-fonts package also.

We already have language-pack-bn (for application translations) and
language-support-bn (which depends on packages that add support for Bengali).
The "locales" package supports this locale, too.

So what's still missing?

Ah, ok, so this does not affect the installed system (where Bengali is
available), but the installer.

Colin, this seems to be your territory. However, I always thought that you use
/usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED, which does contain bn_BD and bn_IN?

Btw, we need keyboard layouts too. :-)

X.org contains 2 Bengali keyboard layout,
1. Bengali Probhat
2. Bengali Inscript

There's no Bengali translation of the installer, so the installer does not offer
it. When there's a Bengali installer translation, I'll add that language to
localechooser, but I don't think it's appropriate to do so before then.

Bengali characters do not render in console.

Then how can we boot with bn_BD or bn_IN locale in the LiveCD?

Have you ever tried installing those packs and log-in choosing BN or BN-IN as
your language? I hope not. Everything is missing.

Given "There's no Bengali translation of the installer, so the installer does not offer it", I think we can call this confirmed.

Bengali support was added in Dapper, though only in the desktop CD as the console isn't up to the necessary rendering.
