Bug Description

Test case.
- Make sure phone is not plugged in.
- In the greeter screen, long press power button to display power dialog.
- Tap to reboot.

Expected result.
- Must take similar time than stable.

Actual result.
- Stable takes 30 seconds to show the bq white screen.
- 274 takes bewteen than 2 and 3 minutes to show the bq screen.

I very much doubt this is an unity8 bug given that unity8 is not involved at these early stages.

Also reproduced from 'today' screen for me. Very disconcerting, because the screen was black for most of the 'reboot' period before there was a flash of the greeter and then the BQ splash logo.

FWIW, this does not seem to impact the reboot performed by 'factory reset'

We could write a regression test for this, using the same test vila started to check that unity doesn't hang after reboots:
https://code.launchpad.net/~canonical-platform-qa/unity8/1421009-hangs-on-boot/+merge/257408

We can take timestamps before and after the reboot, and see if they meet a reasonable threshold.

Problem is that we can only reproduce this issue without a usb cable, as that makes the kernel to acquire a wakelock.

Oh, that complicates the test quite a bit. We would need to use ssh without adb.

Did you find a way to add a regression test at a lower level, or should we add a manual test for reboots to the release plan?
