gnome-volume-control doesn't remember settings

Bug Description

Everytime I boot my hoary system, I have to adjust my audio settings again
(Headphone, PCM etc) because gnome-volume-control seems to forget what I did
last time. This is boring, because Headphones are always at zero and in order to
listen to something I have to turn it up again.
This does not happen when i log out and log in again, only when I reboot the
computer.

What is the output of "grep alsactl /etc/default/alsa" ?

have you changed that value ?

You can read the comment in this file for the explanation, you probably want to
set it to 'always autosave'

No, I didn't change this file. I also checked my second hoary desktop (laptop
with array 7), and it also says "never autosave".
Now, if I change it to "always autosave", it works as expected.

The default setting was inadvertently changed to 'never autosave' at one point,
but this was fixed well before Array 7, and is now 'always autosave'.
