Bug Description

Binary package hint: xresprobe

During gutsy installation, just after xresprobe, the display looked really odd. The installation continued but when the first message appeared, I was not able to read it. Even pressing ALT-F2 to get to the console didn't show a clean console. The console was functional but I was not able to read anything on the screen.

The iso was a Ubuntu NetBoot i386 from https://iso.qa.stgraber.org/. My computer is a Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook E8020.

I also have noticed this with some laptops I have installed on. However the image is more of a "ghostly" type image and the computer dosnt boot up properly. Usually the alternate cd is the best way to get around this bug. I have also found this bug with Debian, it seems to happen with only ati mobility cards (from my limited installs)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Can you please advise which graphics card you have in your system?
Please run the commands:
sudo update-pciids
lspci

Then paste the line describing your graphics card here.
