Bug Description

Hello I worked in give support to OCS Inventory to CPUs. The information of CPU in this architecture is very basic, but in our case we want to track if number of virtual cpus changes or bogomips are modified.

At the moment I can give these basic information plus manufacturer... I have problems to assign architecture, I don't know all variables or guidelines for OCS.

I attached the files, can you see if are correct or if of your interest. I dont speak good english sorry.

The files must by uploaded (in the case of SuSE 10 for s390x in:
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Ocsinventory/Agent/Backend/OS/Linux/Archs

Also attached a screenshot.

Hi,

Thanks for this new version. I'll integrate it asap. I have a question: is there a dmidecode command or equivalent for s390x server?

Best regards

Hi,

After a google search, I found that python-dmidecode exists. Is it installed on your system? If so, can you join the output of the command, plz?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Frank

Hello... great news.

dmedecode doesn't works... it's a shame... zLinux have a big lack giving hw info.

SAD-SERVER-WITHOUT-HW-INFO:~ # dmidecode
# dmidecode 2.9
# No SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found, sorry.
SAD-SERVER-WITHOUT-HW-INFO:~ # whereis dmidecode
dmidecode: /usr/sbin/dmidecode /usr/share/man/man8/dmidecode.8.gz
SAD-SERVER-WITHOUT-HW-INFO:~ # uname -a
Linux WAS-DES-SRV 2.6.16.60-0.85.1-default #1 SMP Thu Mar 17 11:45:06 UTC 2011 s390x s390x s390x GNU/Linux

Maybe a better expression is "giving virtual hw info"

Hi Stephan

Don't use linux command dmidecode. I said python-dmidecode which is included in this rpm package => https://www.suse.com/LinuxPackages/packageRouter.jsp?product=server&version=11&service_pack=sp2&architecture=s390x&package_name=python-dmidecode

Can you install it and post the result, plz?

Thanks in advance

Frank

Hi,

I've read the link. So if you install this module, you can have access to dmi information. Can you do it?

Hello... apart of dmidecode I read that it's possible to use:
lshal
cat /proc/sysinfo

lshw maybe works... but isn't installed in default installation neither RedHat(5,6) or SuSE (10,11,12).

Again information about "virtual hardware" is basic.
