Bug Description

After having iwlwifi problems of constant disconnections every 30 or so minutes, I tried going to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi to install the latest Intel® Wireless 7260 firmware for my kernel version at /lib/firmware, having only the -8 or -7 version in that directory, restarting my computer, and reinstalling the linux-firmware 1.127.6 package.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I installed the 3.17.0-031700rc6 kernel packages, restarted with it and still have the same problem. I later got v1.127.7 of the linux-firmware package, restarted and I'm still unable to connect to any wireless networks.

Possibly related to the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1371425

try to downgrade to 1.127.4 at least or less than 1.127.4, likely the bug was introduced with linux-firmware 1.127.5

The problem where I couldn't connect to any network was a separate issue. Also with v3.17 of the kernel, the problem happens much less frequently.

Will try to see if downgrading linux-firmware to 1.127.4 to see if that fixes the problem.
