Bug Description

MySQL 5.1 with builtin InnoDB is unsupported in XtraBackup 2.1 and 2.2, which is documented. However, the error message in 2.2 could make it clear that the builtin InnoDB is the reason and recommend an upgrade to InnoDB plugin. Currently it looks as follows:

innobackupex: Error: Unsupported server version: '5.1.73-log' Please report a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/percona-xtrabackup

And the workaround?

What is the last xtrabackup which supports 5.1?

The last PXB release with support for _builtin_ InnoDB 5.1 is 2.0.8. Note that the InnoDB plugin is supported by the current stable release series, PXB 2.2.
