trying to use usb-creator-gtk to create a bootable USB with Xubuntu 14.04 iso ( downloaded through Transmission here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/14.04/release/xubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso.torrent ) after typing root password to install bootloader a window appear and the program crash

I received this same error today then looked at the UsbCreatorLog.txt above and discovered the /usr/lib/syslinux dir was missing on my system.
After installing the "syslinux-common" package it finally work.
My distro is Ubuntu MATE 14.10 64bit for Mac.

Just got the "Failed to install the bootloader." bug in Ubuntu 14.04.2 (LTS) with 2 USB flash drives, trying to install Ubuntu 15.04 amd64 from the original iso file. So it seems it is not be fixed.

got the same message on 14.04.3 LTS 32-bit
Unetbootin works OK.
