Bug Description

Binary package hint: eclipse

It crashed with sun-java5-jdk and sun-java6-jdk (I had to ln java6 so that eclipse would find it).

This is the last error, working with java5:

$ /usr/bin/eclipse
searching for compatible vm...
  testing /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj...not found
  testing /usr/lib/kaffe/pthreads...not found
  testing /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun...found
Could not create /usr/local/lib/eclipse/.eclipseextension. Please run as root:
    touch /usr/local/lib/eclipse/.eclipseextension
    chmod 2775 /usr/local/lib/eclipse/.eclipseextension
    chown root:staff /usr/local/lib/eclipse/.eclipseextension

I think it's relevant to know that I'm using kubuntu, because I think instead of using the gkt library KDE is forcing a wrapper, right?

I tried with "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" and also "raleigh" settings, yet both crashed (though raleigh might have taken a little longer to crash).

I'm using gnome - exactly same error.

As workaround I rolled back to libgtk-x11-2.0-1105 (bug was with 1106).

Here is working lib. You need to put it in /usr/lib and also edit symlinks libgtk-x11-2.0.so and libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 to point on libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1105.0 instead of libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1106.0.

I think it's been fixed. I used the 1105 library this morning, and after the last update, the symbolic link was pointing (again) to 1106... but I restarted eclipse and the tooltips are showing up normally... so the problem is gone (apparently).

Correction: It's not been fixed... at least not completely. Though I can see tolltips normally, It's already happened to me twice that working with CVS versions of files, eclipse crashes. The same kind of problem:

Dear maintainers! Please provide some advice!

This bug is similar with: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/128232

BUT!!!
After latest updates decorators are failed to work with libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1105.0 (micro mismatch with ubuntulooks lib). Well, all elements are looking as native gtk2 - like ugly boxes.

Please, do smth! I can either work with eclipse, or use good GUI. I think, everybody wants both together at the same time.
