As version 0.4.3 is the current stable version of Weechat, I think it's necessary to keep Trusty repository in sync with version 0.4.3, as Trusty is the LTS release. It'd be better to keep old LTS releases (Natty and Precise) in sync with version 0.4.3 as well.
For package maintainers, please show responsibility to maintain the package. Don't abandon this responsibility.

At this point it would need to be backported, but someone needs to do the work to test it before that can be done.

Since this is just software upgrade, it's better to request package update via Ubuntu Backports or just compile the new software by yourselves.
