emulator does not run from QtCreator

Bug Description
Go to devices tab, and go to emulators
In the text box, create a new emulator name, such as MyEmulator
Wait
Eventually this appears in the emulators list: open /home/rick/
The log looks like this:
Creating new emulator instance.
Creating "MyEmulator" from devel-proposed revision 219
Downloading...
Setting up...
Creating snapshots for disks...
Succesfully created emulator instance MyEmulator in /home/rick/
Search configured emulator instances.
open /home/rick/
Detecting device..
* there is no device connected.
The emulator never runs

When creating the emulator instance the user is prompted for the sudo password (need to check if this is really required)
It seems that whatever script is run creates the folder ~/.local/ share/ubuntu- emulator with root ownership
