Bug Description

It is possible to start a media player via the greeter sound menu. See bug 811853 for more information.

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Sound#Music_player_sections>: "Whenever you are logged in (that is, not in the standalone installer session or at the login screen), any music player that advertises itself over Mpris should have its own section in the sound menu."

Thank you for your bug report. What greeter do you use? That could well be a bug in the gtk one rather than in the indicator

Tested with both lightdm-gtk-greeter and unity-greeter.

hum, ok, that's weird, I can't confirm that (the indicator doesn't have the "sound settings..." in my greeter, the list of player is also empty by default until you run a player). What player is listed for you?

Yes, just noticed that the settings menu entry is indeed hidden. There is only one player listed (gmusicbrowser), not even sure why it is visible.

Sebastien, any idea why gmusicbrowser is listed for me? Shouldn't indicator-sound make sure that no media player shows up?

No, I've no idea about that, it's going to require some debugging by somebody having the issue...

I can't speak for the greeter itself, but it is definitely listing media players in the new greeter-like lock screen, which is a similar problem.
