Bug Description

This is the new upstream release of spidermonkey 24.

Since gnome-shell/gjs were the only consumers of spidermonkey 17, this can replace that version.

I have patches ready for all reverse-depends that I can upload once this has landed
 - gjs (new upstream release)
 - gnome-shell
 - gnome-sushi

Thanks for your work. This mostly looks good, though I have some questions:

- Why did you drop the symbols file?
- Using bash seems wrong, and using virtualenv as well. Where exactly are they used?

@Dmitry,

- The symbols file was already disabled in the previous release in archive. There seems to be little point having a symbols file, when the API is guaranteed to break each release.

virtualenv is used by the build system and test framework. It is a mozilla modified fork, maintained in-tree.

@dmitry, thanks

re replaces, mozjs packages can in theory be co-installed, however once gjs gets updated, nothing will use the old mozjs17 package, yet it will stay installed?

Apt will remove it on update then. Replaces: field is not what you think, it means "package replaces files in other package".
