Bug Description
You can input anything into the "ip address/hostname" parameters fields for power control, there is no attempt at validation.
While this is challenging, due to the fact that a hostname could be anything. We should initially check for the basics however, i.e. no spaces or weird/special characters.
As a secondary type of validation, when the information is entered and saved, could the MAAS server not at least try and resolve the ip address or hostname?
If the MAAS server is unable to resolve the entered information of an IP or hostname then it should not save, it should flag an error, and prompt the user to correct the information.

I don't think trying to resolve (I presume you mean reverse lookup?) IPs will be useful since there may not be one, but a forward check from hostname to IP would be for sure.
