After downloading and attempting to compile the previous version (0.7.6) this issue appears to have ceased. In doing so I was required to install the following...

- cmake
- libclutter-1.0-dev
- libclutter-gtk-1.0-dev
- libgee-dev
- libgranite-dev
- libgtk-3-dev
- libunity-dev
- libwnck-3-dev
- libzeitgeist-dev
- valac-0.16

running 'dpkg -s slingshot-launcher | grep Version' gives 'Version: 0.7.6.1+r395-0+pkg26~ubuntu12.04.1' which leads me believe I am not, in fact, running the previous version. Perhaps one of the above dependencies has solved the problem?

dpkg will report the version as the new one just because you installed the old version by compiling, not dpkg. dpkg does not know you compiled it, so it thinks the version is still 0.7.6.1

At lest we know it is a regression now.

I believe this was caused by commit 386, as with the escape issue. This was when slingshot stopped overriding the key event handler and just made a new one with a different name, in order to fix the ibus issue (I think).
