Bug Description

Updated to Saucy and not the vmware shared folders don't work anymore.

Seems that the module vmghfs is not being build by dkms.

Steps to reproduce:

- Install open-vm-tools, then via cml:

vm@vmrk:~$ vmware-hgfsclient
Downloads

vm@vmrk:~$ sudo vmware-hgfsmounter .host:/Downloads /media/host/
Error: cannot mount filesystem: No such device

vm@vmrk:~$ sudo modprobe vmhgfs
FATAL: Module vmhgfs not found.

vm@vmrk:~$ lsb_release -rd

For those who wish to help me figure this out. Here's the notable part of the boot log:

Don't know which version of vmci it is: Package or Kernel

The current incarnation of my prep branch (which I updated 30 minutes ago) is taking vmci completely out of the package equation (as in DKMS doesn't notice it during the build process).

Since you didn't specify which VMware product you're using I'm going to assume it's the new version of Workstation/Player/Fusion possibly available. Use those tools that come with the program

Thank you for working on it :)

You're right, it's Fusion 6.0.1

If you tell me I'm better off using VMWare Tools I'll do that. I'd just prefer the open-vm-tools. If've been happy with them so far.

I prefer the open-vm-tools too. I use both versions on my Scratch machine: open-vm-tools for the modules and the proprietary package for everything else.

In my time maintaining this package, I've never had this much trouble with this package during a cycle.

I've got it fixed, it was the package version of vmci.

I'm gonna put the proposal together (and submit it) on Thursday. I want to try out something out with shared folders. They do automount now, it just needs /mnt/hgfs created.
