Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

When I try to use Synaptic when Desktop Effects (Compiz) are on Synaptic's window won't display properly, and it freezes Gnome. This happened several times. From another console terminal I am able to kill Synaptic, and everything works fine then.

Yes it does happen with other applications that requiere administrative
privileges, and usually this happens when I'm running the Update Manager.
