Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Thanks for reporting this. I have a couple of questions for you:

- Do you get this every time you try to start unity-mail?
- Do you have gnome-keyring-daemon running?
- Was the previous version of unity-mail (1.2.x) working for you?

Changed in unity-mail (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
importance: Undecided → High

Dmitry, thanks for your e-mail.

Here is my reply to your questions:

-The problem only occurred at the first start of Unity-mail, and did not
come after that.
-Gnome-keyring-daemon is always working in the background.
-Previous version of Unity-mail was working okay in Quantal.

Hope above is of help.

Regards and goodbye,

Munawar Ahmed

This bug was fixed in the package unity-mail - 1.3.2

---------------
unity-mail (1.3.2) raring; urgency=low

  * New bugfix release.
    - Remove useless str() wrap in try_establish_connection().
    - Handle socket errors in mark_message_as_read().
    - Handle UnicodeEncodeErrors in try_establish_connection().
    - When unable to get the default secretstorage collection, wait
      a second and try again using a different method (LP: #1162135).
    - Do not use star imports, to get pyflakes working.
