Bug Description

I am a complete beginner to Linux so I installed Edubuntu and it is great.

However, I have a few minor problems which I need to have fixed.

I am running a dual-core cpu on Intel DLP65LT motherboard.

I have an nvidia7600gt 256mb graphics card.

I have a viewsonic 20" lcd screen.

I cannot get my screen resolution to the maximum 1400*990 like I ran with WindowsXP.

I have tried to work arounds and some changes to the xorg, but remember that I'm a complete beginner so nothing has worked.

I can run the 3d effects with the cube movement and everything.

How can I fix this?

I've fixed it! I used a fantastic installation guide available at www.futuredesktop.com/ubuntu7.04.html

I followed the guidelines and everything is working very well now.

I'm very happy with Ubuntu and and finally FREE of windows....I hope

Thank you for your report. It was more of a support query than a bug report so may have received a better/faster response using one of the options described on http://www.ubuntu.com/support/CommunitySupport rather than bugs.launchpad.net .

Doing
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
will have added horizontal and vertical sync ranges . The drivers were also switched to the nvidia binary drivers.

Thanks for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular issue has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug #91292 and is being marked as such.
